Yeah, we thought it might be a river/dock/motorway but turns out from the aftermath pics it's just a residential street. It trundles down a bit then hits a wall on the side of the road.

Today the council sent a JCB round the estate to clear the roads of the 6 inch layer of snow and ice.
So after lying for 3 weeks with the battery on a conditioner started 1st time and went for a wee run

Council also sent a mini Kubota up our street (one normally used for clearing pavements).
He scraped about 2 shovelfulls of snow off the road an dumped a handful of grit then buggered off
I've spent 2 days clearing the road outside the house, but it's a waste of time because I can't get along the other end of the road.

Looks like the car's stuck for another week.

Funnily enough, West Lothian council have also today sent in the big guns to our estate. I suppose now that there is a thaw on it's a bit easier work for them

The JCB has piled several feet of snow half into a neighbour's garden. And completely ignored the area of snow potholes created when the last council slacker came round and flung a few random shovelfuls off the back of a flatbed

Ali you better wrap up warm for oslo, when I left last week it was touching -20, and bloody windy. They tell me its a dry cold and not like Scotland where you feel it, thats all bollocks it horrendous.

what are the people doing?

You'd have thought that the people videoing it would have made better use of their time by going up the road a bit and warning drivers not to venture any further down the road given that they were clearly waiting on another 'victim'.

We had a similar situation down here near my daughters riding school. There's a ford on a tight blind bend near the farm where the school is. The water flows too quickly for the stream to freeze but with all the traffic going through it depositing water for a few hundred yards in either direction it quickly becomes a skating rink (which it does every year at some point) There are signs up at either end warning you that there may be ice on the road. Now you'd think people would make the connection between the -5c temps, the ford warning and the risk of ice warning...nope - several cars all rammed into each other blocking the road which fixed the problem as no one else crashed there that day. Speaking to one old dear that lives in the village, she was even standing round the corner leading into the village with a sign telling you to turn round which people were still ignoring. Apparently someone's idea of getting through it was to boot the car down the hill to get enough momentum to get get up the other side which worked up to a point, the point being the front garden of the house on the corner which, as it turned out, was the old dear's house - happened every year she said. I told her to build a concrete anti terror wall and then grow ivy all over it to hide it.

Well they definitely work, the under side of the car was scraping in the snow but they just keep going.....very impressed!
