Honda Conversion
Re: Honda Conversion
Hi lowell,
I have not ordered the kit yet, TBH not 100% sure yet. but stark seems to be the only complete kit. I have not really seen any other DIY kits. I am beginning to think I should have bought your car when I looked at it 5 years ago, but the Exige was too tempting at the time.

Re: Honda Conversion
Have you considered making your own mounts?. The kits are very expensive, infact cost more than the engine/box itself. I don't mean bodge some mounts together yourself, make up some drawings and get a fab shop to make them. Huge savings and you get the man points for designing them yourselfSandy wrote:Hi lowell,

Post 1 updated.
Alan,
I have thought about making my own mounts, in fact Craig was also trying to convince me to go that way. Maybe we can meet up and talk about it next week, I will be in Dyce all week.

Re: Honda Conversion
I have just replaced my entire linkage with a cracking bespoke rose jointed one from a guy from seloc, identical to the link below, also got some eliseparts Motorsport cables a short shifter, seam welded the standard shifter cage etc, it better be bloody good as not finished it yet
As Alan etc have said a superior kit can be cobbled together cherry picking parts from various suppliers..

Re: Honda Conversion
Great stuff, Sandy.
I am starting to see a theme emerging here.
North Eastern SE Engineer types (NESEEs for short) are developing quite a rep for pulling Elises apart then putting them back together perhaps better than the factory
Is there a business in there fellas...lots of S1s (and probably some early noughties S2s) coming up to the stage of deserving serious restoration...
If I won the lottery tomorrow I think that is the first thing I would do with UJI. Then refinish her Chrome Orange with a Black Pack
And a set of seats like Al and Jen's. Sorry Mikey's

No probs Campbell. Think it will always be known as Alan and Jen's Elise
The seats are the business Campell, dont think they were lottery expensive?
Two broken ribs unfortunately mean they still wont be confortable enough for a few weeks yet

Re: Honda Conversion
Sandy, i'd be up for getting together. I started a new job in Kintore this week, so could easily meet for a coffee somewhere.
GearChange
I don't like these little selector assemblies, they work fine when set-up but takes forever and don't seem to be reliable. To fit one you have to cut the weight (helps with gear selection) of the original gear linkage. I would prefer to go under/round the gearbox and use the existing cable mount with weight in place. This does mean the cable is close to exhaust, but all you would need is a set of custom cables...
That's a great idea about seem welded the selector cage, mine moved and creaked as you change,
Food for thought
Here is a pic of Colin's, complete with linkage.
