New Evora owner!

Post by SpyderM » Sat Oct 12, 2013 10:00 pm

My first post and rightly it should be here in the Newbies section so here it is!

After six trouble free years in this

Image

including two fantastic trips through Europe and down to its birthplace over as many of the alpine passes as I could convince my other half that she could and should put up with

Image

I have been won over to the Lotus community. I've been out in various Exige and Elises (thanks DJ and Mass amongst many others) whilst I have wallowed around in my Spyder and whilst tickled by the idea of an Elise practicality won over in the end and the good folk at MMC negotiated a happy deal for both of us to part me ( ) from my Maserati and tempt me in to the following

So, having picked it up last saturday I had booked a night over in Appin and we managed to get up to Knockhill for the last half hour of the SIDC track day last saturday and to catch up with DJ and his new Exige

Image

before then getting to know the car on the drive through familiar territory of Glencoe to an overnight in Port Appin.

Image

I already know a few SE and SIDC folk from my odd track days in the spyder although I haven't been out in it in the last couple of years. I hope to be able to hook up on the occasional run in the future. For now though I'm just getting used to having a car with much less hp but much lighter and such fantastic suspension! The number plate will be changing in due course once the DVLA have sorted out my transfer.

Welcome Mr Spyder!

Saw your ex Maser while in MMC picking up my long serving Elise from a minor warranty item. I need to keep my missus out the way. She is very fond of those ;-)

An Evora is squarely on our Bucket List. Enjoy.

Welcome! I think i spoke to you at KH when you'd first bought the maser....impressive (and worrying from my bank balance point of view) that you had no issues :D

Loving the evora though.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

cheers all! And a special cheers to DJ for pushing me over the edge :thumbsup

a bit more on the evora, it is a launch edition with all three packs, electic mirrors, reversing camera etc. Brandon and Duncan agreed to a few tweaks pre-purchase including replacing the windscreen (chip), painting the calipers red, changing the gear stick to the newer version (same as in Elise and Exige) and putting armour fend on front. We debated changing door handles to colour coded but for now I quite like them as they are. I've also elected to leave the exhaust as the standard sports tips and live with it for a while to see how it "feels" but I already reckon I'll decat the third and may put on a different back box.....coming from the spyder with 400bhp and a burbling V8 with full quicksilver exhaust the Evora sounds a bit :tired quiet :D That said, I don't want to overdo it....must go and listen to a few youtube comparisons now

Meantime, I'm off now for a :drive so :cheers for the welcome to all of you and if anyone wants more info on the spyder let me know!

Great choice, but I'm biased as it looks the same as my old Evora.

The lotus sports exhaust sounds fantastic, it makes a huge difference. I actually preferred the sound of it to my Exige exhaust.

Hope you have a great time with the Evora.

Cheers
