They did make several 'suggestions' which my PPI had highlighted as needing done in te next 10k miles (discs, possible clutch - won't know 'till we're in there, sir!) so I have aquifer from them.
Anyone used SP autobahn in Stirling for work? Came well recommended by my pre purchase inspection man, Peter Morgan.
I've got a full porky service history so I'm only considering Indys for non-service work.H8OAG wrote:GregR wrote:£600 for a major service and a brake fluid change at Porsche Edinburgh, not as bad as I thought. Stuart in Stirling is very good, and has carried out work for me recently at reasonable rates .
His knowledge of the marque is comprehensive and prepares a few of the 911 race cars around these parts
Peter Morgan uses him for pre sales inspections in Scotland/North
Stuart will also give you a fixed price quote on the clutch replacement if you ask
Gail's Cayenne went into Glasgow Stealers this week for a major service and brake fluid change....................£540 (so as not to invalidate Porsche Warranty and continue with a book of FDSH stamps)
Its the usual conundrum between dealer stamps/specialist stamps......................![]()
I don't think it makes much difference at resale time on older cars so would tend towards using Specialists
The only other consideration is that keeping a full book of FDSH stamps may serve to soften the blow in the event of catastrophic engine failure
In the past when I have owned Porsche's I always found Porsche Edinburgh very willing to negotiate on service costs when presented with indi service costs to the point it was a no brainer. Especially when factoring in the courtesy car and nice coffee. And the kudos of keeping a FPSH.DJ wrote:You will be thinking of Brian Miller. I'm amazed you could get your car booked in. I tried to book the 993 in for a service a few months ago and called him countless times (always leaving a voicemail message) and emailed too (where he replied telling me to phone him instead!) but only spoke to him once when he couldn't get me off the phone quick enough and told me to call back the next day. I gave up and took it elsewhere.H8OAG wrote:Stuart in Stirling is very good, and has carried out work for me recently at reasonable rates .

You are the second person that has stated this...................after me recommending his services
Stuart is a one - man operation who also gets involved in race car prep for Raymond Boyd etc. so sometimes he is away from the garage for days at a time.

Ordering pads from eurocarparts for my 2003 C4S.
Two types of pagid's. Normal pads for £102 and ones with pin type wear sensors @ £75. How do I know what I need?
I really tried to get it booked in and I may try again at some point next year but I was pretty happy with the service I got from Alan at Wilson's Garage in St Cyrus. They also prep a 2-car Carrera Cup team and they've managed to pick up the phone every time I called.H8OAG wrote:Hi Simonsimon wrote:I'm amazed you could get your car booked in. When this happens, he usually leaves his father in charge of answering calls and bookings.
She looked good when i stumbled past at 3am on Sat night trying to find Leith... it was at that point i knew i was lost...!GregR wrote:So, I've tried some new things in the last few days. I've tried a 991. I've tried a cabriolet. I've tried the 7 speed PDK. Yes you've guessed it, I have Porsche Edinburgh's courtesy car: 991 cab with PDK, PSE, Sport, adjustable dampers etc etc. all the toys.
First surprise is it's a 3.4. It has stop-start, very odd. Obviously she's a heavy girl and mated to the smaller engine than in the 997 it feels noticeably slower. It feels really big too. I don't like the PDK. Even in supposedly manual, in 'sport', it won't hold the gears and that's a shame, as the engine sounds great from 6k onwards. In town it is super smooth but I hope there's a lot of work done to the GT3's box or disappointment awaits for those that like control.
A very weird thing to say when you've got a £90k car at your disposal, but I can't wait to get my old girl back
