It is a 1966 230SL - known as Pagoda because of the shape of the roof.
Spied it on ebay.com at an independent german car dealer in Virginia, they sell everything from 190SLs, these to brand new stuff. The guys there were absolutely spot on to deal with, as were the shipping company I used here.
Paid for it, the shipping company uplifted it from the dealer and did absolutely everything - transport to New York, customs, into container then over here mid march. They then uplifted it from port, did all the forms. I only had to pay 5% VAT and zero duty as it got brought in under the binding tariff for "works of art"
Then it got MOT'd, needed only £400 spent on it and here we are. Drove 80miles back from Milton Keynes and around central London today and it didn't miss a beat. About to leave to drive home in it in the rain so hopefully its a) still there and b)still works.
