Hi folks, thanks for all the well wishes, i am well chuffed with my weekend, considering the circumstances.
It was a bit of a baptism of fire, being sent out in qualifying having never driven the circuit, and having to get used to the race rules/overtaking, learn which way the track goes, try to get up to speed, and find a bit of clear track to try and get a fast laptime. In the end, i just concentrated on getting as many laps in as possible, rather than trying to find space to set a time, so my qually time wasnt great, but other than steve williams, i was only 0.6 seconds behind the rest of my class. I was pretty happy with that and thought i could make that up in the race.
First race was amazing. Bit of a blur to be honest, and dont remember that much. Grid was packed, first corner i got pushed to the outside and lost a place, got a better exit from the second corner though and got it back. At the end of the straight there were 3 abreast, but skeggsy spun in front of my group, so chaos ensumed, sending cars everywhere. The next 10 laps i spent dicing with Russ Treasure in his SC rotrex honda exige. He had 370bhp, so was rev limited to 6000rpm. it meant he got out of the corners very well, but his his limiter in 6th gear 3/4 of the way down the straight. Meant we swapped places twice a lap, but it was good fun regardless. He had a probelm at midway and dropped out. 2 laps from the end, i started to catch the other NA honda elise, who had dropped his VTEC, and was slowing down, he deffended well, and made it difficult to pass. Eventually i went round the outsideof him into the esses, only for Nipper to spin in front of me, and him to get back through. No worries i thought, get him next lap, but we crossed the line with the chequered flag waving. arse. never mind, good race, had fun, still in one piece. I had absolutely no idea where i had finished, as after skeggsy's spin on the first lap, i had lost sight of the leaders. drove into parc ferme to find out i was 3rd in class, 6th overall.

well shuffed.
Second Race was a bit of a faff before it started. Its a handicap system, so theoretically, everyone has an equal chance of winning. Its based on your best laptime in qually and the first race. Somehow, i was starting at the back of the grid, despite being slower than thos infront of me. I was starting 15 seconds behind AJK, who beat me in the first race, and beside steve williamjs, who beat me by a lot in the first race. I asked for clarification, got it, the handicapper admitted there was a mistake, but it was too late to change it, so i started form the last group. The actual race was fantastic, lots of overtaking, lots of dicing, i managed to battle my way up to 17th, but that was as good as i was ever going to manage with the handicap the way it was. had i started in the right group, 15 seconds ahead, i would have been 3rd in class, and 7th overall. Never mind, i know i was robbed, and its one of many excuses that i have to add to my book now
